Winter Break busy-ness

Wang Posted in Randoms,Tags: , , ,

Just about tens left in this winter and what have I been up to? Seems to have gone by in a blur, but to sum it up.

Family for the Holidays. Always fun, I feel as if recently my family has become much closer or maybe I’ve grown up more and grown even fonder of them either way it’s great. This is the best way to spend the holidays.

New Year’s Eve get’s chalked up to the gods of belligerence and excess. All I can say is, “I was amazing.”

I’ve been working with my mother at the Guttman Foundation. I enjoy things here and it keeps me busy.

I would love to work in the city for real one day.

CES is going on at the moment. Lot’s of cool gadgets and gizmos on the horizon. the entire technology community seems to have gotten Slate fever.

I’ve been underwhelmed with the current showing and I look forward to the Apple product.

AMOLED screen are looking more and more stunning and visually appealing. I can’t wait for it to become more widely accessible.

One thing I(and seemingly everyone else) have taken a particular liking to is the Alienware M11X. I haven’t considered purchasing one of their products since I was a kid, but with this I just might have a change of heart.

Started playing EVE online again, on my 1008ha. Fun stuff, but kinda chugs.

Installed a Corsair SSD in the 1008ha, speedy little thing.

Lazy Weekends

It’s nice, on ocassion to have a weekend off from the craziness of being young. You realize what’s it like having nothing to do; having to keep yourself busy throughout the day. Without any pressure to get anything done.

So far I went food shopping and for a run. I wanted to see a movie or go shopping, but I think I’m just going to veg out for the rest of the day.

The iPhone 3GS is so great. With the new speed bump I feel like I can do everything with this phone. Browse, shop, and media are all fast and easily done. Infact I’m lying in bed writing this post on it now.

This weekend I was in Atlantic city with the crew. I learned that blackjack is awesome and that I never want to play crazy wheel(roulette) ever again.

I also found a defintion for Matt in the zone, Epic Matt Mode. It’s web he’s had a few drinks and has no inhibtions in dealing with women. He is one smooth mother.

Finally, I met this guy called Barry Jonas. He is the oldest Jonas brother that doesn’t get any fame cause of his Ill behavior. He’s pretty much awesome in an ill begotten degenerate way. Pictured above after a rough weekend.

friends-tikibarSeriously they all rock. These people are all woven into the tapestry that is my life and without them I feel like I would simply unwind.

My Summer Plans

Wang Posted in Randoms, Technology,Tags: ,

header_02My summer plans are pretty awesome. I was able to land an internship at Broadridge. A financial software solutions provider. They handle wall street brokers like e-trade. My division is enterprise architecture. It’s basically the cool IT. I’m so pleased with it so far. My bosses are awesome, my colleagues are awesome, my commute is awesome, and I get to live at the frat house. I feel like this could be a life inspiring event right here. I’m learning so much, I find it fascinating, and most importantly I’m enjoying it. What more could I ask for?

I still work out all the time and my cooking habits are top notch. I get to spend time with all my best friends.

Things couldn’t be better :D

Current Musical Selections

225Fact – A Japanese rock band my roomate introduced me too. I don’t listen to enough rock. The first song I heard I thought it was sung in Japanese, but it wasn’t; they sing in english. It seems it though sometimes when the lyrics just get jumbled together. They just released their first album today. You can check the entire album out through some streaming sources they have setup.

6a00b8ea067a57dece00e398d2c6d60005-320piPerfume – A jpop/trance group. I like the sound, it flows very well. It works well as music to run to. Infact I’ve started looking into other jtrance groups to see what I find.she-chiptek

She – A Chinese electro artist. The particular album I am listening to is composed entirely of bit sounds which is unique. I like it because I feel as if I’m in a retro game when I listen.

Presenting the incredibly cute story of tweenbots

Wang Posted in Randoms,Tags: ,

peoplebotwebWhile browsing engadget on greader today I came upon the story of tweenbots. One person’s thesis project to observe human willingness to help cute robots to get places in New York city.

http://www.tweenbots.com/

I think this is an incredibly charming story and the adorable smiling robots just tug at my heart strings. It’s good to see people opening up and helping the little guys instead of just ignoring them or reporting them as dangerous devices.

Feburary update

Well it’s been a month since school began and this is my first post. So what’s up? School and fraternity business has been killing me. I’ve been so very busy trying to study and work on rush. Rush is fraternity recruitment and I’m the head of it this semester. The first three weeks have been packed with events to get the organization’s name out to prospective young men.

So that’s done and we have five young men pledging and they’re a great lot. Rush goes on all the time, but I get to take a bit of a breather now.

Hmm other news? I met a chick and she’s cool. That’s all I have to say on that. :3

Oh shit it’s valentines, nothing to report other than it spent a pleasant evening with my mother. I know that sounds lame, but atleast I didn’t get time traveling drunk this year.

I’m in a pretty good mood, things are going well in my life overall. Gotta keep my head in the books. Stay tuned I’ll try and update more :) .

Alittle photo showing my silly side.

Wanna know what I learned today?

thermostat1

That the coolant system in a car relies on one tiny very important part, the thermostat. Now let me explain, the thermostat is the piece that regulates the amount of coolant flowing to the engine. Engines are precision machines that get very hot and they require a specific temperature range to to operate nominally.

Now why am I so concerned about them? Well because mine froze shut this morning, and after a short drive I realized my car was very close to overheating in nine degree temperature. With the thermostat frozen there was NO coolant going to my engine and since air is very poor conductor of heat there was little mitigation. Luckily a realized something was wrong and was able to get home. I had a friend some over and take a look and he recognized what happened immediately, gave me a temporary fix and sent me on my way with the solution.

Shortly afterward I found myself in auto zone getting the required parts to repair my car. After Which I was outside in my driveway in the freezing cold at night trying to replace my broken thermostat. After a bout an hour of trying with the wrong tools I was left frustrated at one final bolt I couldn’t possibly reach. The majority of my tool already back at school I might as well as had a child’s play set. Just when I had all but given up fortune smiled on a frustrated me and along came a neighbor of mine. Now this neighbor is a quiet man, that is always working on his cars. He kindly lent me the wrench I needed to finish the job after which I was able to complete it in several minutes. He has a pretty sweet 66 vette btw.

So after spending the majority of the day dicking around with my car where do I stand? I completed nothing of my plans of moving the remaining of my belongings back to school. I did not get to work on the house or discuss fraternity matters. And I may have a cold.

SO what did I really learn today?

Replace my thermostat in the fall, to avoid this ever again.

In other news first day of classes is the 20th. yay~
